RUSI of Victoria
Aim
The aim of the Royal United Services Institute of Victoria is to encourage the discussion of National Security and Defence matters, and to improve public awareness and understanding of such matters.
Brief History
The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) of Victoria was founded in Melbourne in 1890. The original aim centred on improving the education of Service Officers by promoting the study of strategic and defence matters. A defence oriented library was established, which today contains a fine collection.
An early Secretary of the Victorian Institute was Captain John Monash, later General Sir John Monash.
The RUSI of Victoria is a Constituent Body of the Royal United Services Institute of Australia.
